Candle Care Guide
How to Burn Your Candle Properly for the Best Scent & Longest Life
At CW Candle Co. LLC, every candle is hand-poured in small batches using premium wax blends and carefully curated fragrance oils. Proper candle care ensures a clean burn, optimal scent throw, and the longest possible candle life.
Follow the guide below to get the most out of your candle experience
Before Lighting Your Candle
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before every burn.
This prevents excess smoke, soot, and overly large flames.
Place your candle on a heat-safe, level surface.
Always keep candles away from drafts, vents, fans, pets, and children
The First Burn Matters Most
Your first burn sets the memory of the candle.
Allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the vessel on the first burn.
This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
Recommended first burn time:
2–4 hours, depending on candle size.
Ongoing Candle Care
-
Do not burn candles longer than 4 hours at a time
-
Always extinguish the flame before relighting
-
Trim wick again once cooled
-
Keep wax free of debris such as matches or wick trimmings
-
Never move a candle while wax is hot or liquid
When to Stop Burning Your Candle
Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.
This protects the container and surface beneath it.
Special Notes for Hand-Poured Candles
Because our candles are handcrafted:
-
Natural variations in wax appearance may occur
-

This does not affect performance or scent quality
These characteristics are part of the artisan process and make each candle unique.
